The Garvey Group Adds its Second High-volume EFI VUTEk Inkjet Press

The Garvey Group has announced the installation of a new, 3.2-meter EFI VUTEk® HS100 Pro UV inkjet press at The Garvey Group’s suburban Milwaukee production facility. The press broadens The Garvey Group’s inkjet production capabilities in premium-quality point-of-purchase, transit and outdoor graphics for leading retailers and other national brands.

The new, high-volume inkjet press provides near-offset quality on a broad range of substrates, from vinyl banner and billboard material to a variety of rigid media. A new material edge guide (MEG) system from EFI installed with the press ensures full-speed productivity and high-quality results on challenging media, such as corrugated board.

The press installed last month is actually the second EFI VUTEk HS100 Pro in The Garvey Group’s national fleet of digital and litho production equipment. Earlier this year, the company installed a VUTEk HS100 Pro press in its Los Angeles facility to produce high-end, fast-turnaround graphics for retailers, brands and entertainment companies.

Operating at speeds up to 100 boards per hour, the press is a true digital alternative to labor-intensive screen printing operations, offering:

  • EFI’s Pin & Cure imaging technology, which offers precise ink lay-down for critical color accuracy and consistency, gloss control and an increased color gamut.
  • True, variable-dot grayscale inkjet head technology for higher image quality and better matching of brand colors.
  • Eight-color printing, including the industry’s best white ink, and a unique, multilayer printing capability for superior visual appeal on backlit displays and other applications.

Garvey Awarded at Premier Print Awards 2014

The Garvey Group has been awarded a 2014 Premier Print Award, for outstanding achievement in the production of Litho labels and Wrap. The Premier Print Awards is the graphic arts industry’s largest and most prestigious worldwide printing competition, hosted by Printing Industries of America, which recognizes those responsible for the creation and production of outstanding print communications.The Garvey Group won a Certificate of Merit for our entry Ammo Plant.

Having examined over 3,000 of entries from printing and graphic arts firms around the world, the judges bestowed upon The Garvey Group the award, which honors technical excellence in this category of the competition. Less than 33% of the total entries in this year’s competition won an award.

The Premier Print Awards is the printing industry’s oldest and largest worldwide graphic arts competition. In its 65th year, the competition recognizes those responsible for the creation and production of superior print communications. The event promotes excellence in print and rewards companies and individuals who produce the best in print media.

The Garvey Group Expands Retail Operations and Acquires Troyk Printing

The Garvey Group, LLC announces the acquisition of Troyk Printing Corporation located in southern Wisconsin. The acquisition fortifies The Garvey Group’s large format in store, digital, screen and fulfillment solutions and strengthens their ability to service national retailers’ large format and POP/POS and brand marketing programs.

Garvey Takes Home Three Honors at Graphics Excellence Awards 2014

With more than 1,000 entries from printing and graphic arts firms from Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana, The Garvey Group won two Best of Category Awards for Litho Labels & Large-Format Printing and one Award of Excellence for Litho Labels.Graphics Execellence Awards

The winning pieces include a Spider-Man 2 in-store retail Point-of-Purchase Display, Ammo Plant packaging and Quality Archery Designs packaging.

A panel of out-of-state judges with extensive experience in printing and print production was brought in to examine the work. Each entry was judged on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces.

The judging criteria included registration, crossovers, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, finishing, bindery and overall visual impact.

The Garvey Group Adds an EFI VUTEk HS100 Pro to Meet P-O-P Signage Demand

EFI and The Garvey Group announced the installation of a new EFI VUTEk HS100 ProOpens in a new window UV inkjet press at The Garvey Group’s Los Angeles production facility. The two companies made the announcement during the GlobalShop 2014 retail, design and visual merchandising show in Las Vegas.

Installed earlier this month, the new, high-volume press gives The Garvey Group increased capacity to meet growing entertainment and national retailer demand for premium, point-of-purchase (POP) signage. The 3.2-meter wide press also strengthens The Garvey Group’s service capabilities in high-end indoor and outdoor promotional graphics for Hollywood TV and film studios.

The press purchase puts The Garvey Group at the forefront of superwide-format imaging capabilities, expanding the capacity and quality the company offers through its national fleet of digital and litho production presses.
